CHARACTERS IN-GAME: Mollymauk Tealeaf, Moira O'Deorain
▶ CHARACTER
NAME: Elsa
CANON: Frozen/Frozen II
CANON POINT: Before "Into The Unknown"
AGE: 24.
BACKGROUND: Under the 'Appearances' header here.
Elsa is the current Queen of Arendelle, a kingdom situated up North in a fictional, Nordic land that is filled with magic and lore. She's one of two in the remaining royal family, her other being her sister, Princess Anna. The two are like two sides to a coin: Anna is adventurous, feisty and outspoken, where Elsa is reserved, regal, and keeps mostly to herself. The two work together to lead Arendelle, where Anna keeps a grand connection with the public and Elsa keeps a picture perfect image as the monarch.
It wasn't always that way, as they've both come out the other end of a few conflicts, mostly centered around the discovery, the concealment, and the control of Elsa's icy powers. On her quest to let it go, Elsa is eventually shown that her sister's love and dedication to her is unbreakable, and that together, they can do anything, from coming out ahead against villainous fiancees, to even venturing into the unknown.
Elsa currently resides in Arendelle peacefully with her family and friends, Princess Anna, the ice merchant Kristoff, his reindeer Sven and a wacky snowman of her own creation, Olaf.
Elsa's still doing her very best as Queen of Arendelle, but a mysterious voice has been calling out to her over the course of a few weeks and making her anxious. She wonders if something is waiting for her, or if being Queen of Arendelle is exactly where she's meant to be.
PERSONALITY: pros: elegant/graceful, reserved/proper/poised, kind, protective, mature, direct, sophisticated, selfless, well-but-short-spoken, practical, benevolent, brave, loyal, determined.
cons: introverted, perfectionist, anxious, insecure/unsure, hesitant, painfully self aware, blunt, stoic.
Elsa's personality has been much shaped by her powers and her royal circumstances. Being the older sister, she's always been more responsible, more cautious, more maternal and more mature than her younger sister, Anna. She's less likely to goof around and be as playful as her sister, but that doesn't mean she's void of a sense of humor entirely.
Getting close enough to see that sense of humor from her though, is a challenge. Elsa is incredibly guarded, even after her realization and acceptance of her powers. Once doomed to distance herself from everyone in fear of hurting them, Elsa still has to work to come out of her shell a little bit. As time has gone on, Elsa's improved on it, but will never truly feel confident in herself or her powers until she discovers where she's truly meant to be.
Elsa's self confidence issues are limited mostly to herself; when it comes time to help others or be a leader, Elsa's okay to give orders, to take action. When the safety of her family or her kingdom are in question, Elsa is willing to do anything. From pushing her sister out of her castle, to sending her sailing away on an ice raft so she doesn't follow after her on a dangerous journey, Elsa will do what she must (no matter the sorrow it might inflict) to do what's right. Even self-sacrifice isn't out of the question for her, demonstrated by her desperation to save her own sister.
Along with being able to lead effectively in a crisis, such as when the elements start to storm through Arendelle, Elsa's poised and elegant, and carries herself as such. Whether or not this is something she's predisposed to or she had to learn/take lessons on as a monarch, is unsaid. But it's assuredly, not a matter of self importance.
Having spent so much of her life in hiding and sealed away from her friends and family, Elsa's quite introverted, convinced most of the time that she can do things on her own. Asking for help from others is a hurdle for her, especially when asking for them from her sister. As her relationship with Anna strengthens, this begins to come a little more naturally.
Elsa is a bit of a perfectionist, again, mostly coming into question when talking about her sister. She waved off her own severe illness once in order to make sure the 'perfect' birthday party was thrown for her sister. After all, she felt incredibly guilty for her self isolation causing Anna to miss out on so many with her only family.
In situations when her power is the subject, Elsa can become incredibly anxious and begin to spiral. This hasn't happened a lot recently, as the last time she did, she very nearly killed her own sister. But, if she's approached with hostility, she can begin to isolate again, and begin to think of herself as a monster, a danger, or a failure. Without her sister's guiding voice to encourage her, or really any reminder of her accomplishments, Elsa could very well relapse into such a place.
In less dire circumstances? Elsa is quiet, short spoken, direct. She's no-nonsense, and likes her quiet time. She likes things like reading books, having tea quietly in a stateroom or a library, surveying art, ice skating or finding creative outlets like ice sculpture. Elsa's also incredibly kind to animals and has a healthy amount of respect for nature and magic. She's well mannered, well meaning, well met. In fact, if her powers weren't such a landmark of her personality, Elsa appears at first glance as a well adjusted, quiet and conservative monarch, who's practiced, careful and diplomatic. Once you get to know her though, she's a dedicated older sister, and deeply conflicted woman, who's self interests have never been put at the forefront. She's selfless and compassionate, introverted and nuanced.
POWERS/ABILITIES: Disney wiki has an extensive write up on her powers and abilities, however, I will go into what the general summation as well as what will and will not be nerfed.
Elsa has extensive cryokinesis, meaning she naturally, can control the elements of ice and snow, even water to some small extent. This can be on a small or massive scale, from generating small flurries to ice storms capable of deep freezing a small kingdom/fjord.
Her cryokinesis is not just limited to creating ice and snow, but also living beings made of such. These living beings are influenced by her emotions and memories, drawing their life from her that way.
In game, her power to create sentient life will be unavailable at first. The scale of which her powers operates will also be severely nerfed; she will not be able to affect wide scale weather unless prompted/plotted/given permission for an event.
I hope in the future, her redeeming for a certain reward to bring in a pet or companion can be used in exchange for the Nokk, a spirit of water, that takes the form of an elemental (water, snow) horse.
INVENTORY: Elsa will be bringing only the clothes on her back. Later on she will gain small mementos for her home, like her mother's shawl or a belonging of Anna's.
MOONBLESSING: Cordis - takes on the attributes of an arctic fox.
▶ SAMPLES
(Elsa's thread samples are either not long enough, or in the wrong canonpoint for her. Please revise me if you need a longer sample!)
Prompt: Somewhere in Level 2, a Prismal gets angry at you for ruining their prized Duranduran dahlias. You didn't do it, but you certainly saw their child, a Sanguis Prismal, rampage across their garden earlier. They seemed to be hungry, like a wolf. Said child hides behind their mother, guilt-ridden. What do you do?
On Level 2, Elsa had sort of reached out of her comfort zone to explore a bit. She wouldn't get anywhere avoiding everyone, she couldn't possibly sustain herself in this place without at least getting to know one or two people. Children, she found, were always easier to talk to. Whether it was because she was so practiced in mothering Anna around, or if children reacted to her powers more often with wonder than with fear---children were just easier to get along with.
So her curiosity is piqued when she notices the toddler rolling around in what seems to be their own yard. Munching on the fruit there, he looks like he's having a great time, but Elsa's first thought goes to their parents. Oh no, this could end pretty badly for them, she thinks. Parking it outside of the yard, she observes for another quiet moment.
"Having fun?" she asks them meekly, putting her hands behind her back. The toddler looks like they've been caught red handed, face flushing and eyes widening. Elsa's small smile of amusement is tinged with empathy.
"Don't worry. I won't tattle on you. What is it you're eating?"
With a sudden surge of reckless optimism, the toddler bounds forward with a torn chunk of...some kind of flowery fruit offered outstretched in his little palm. She took it, smelling it first and then thanking him.
"Thank you, that's very kind of you." she replies with a chuckle, even tasting it for a second. It's....sour, and strong smelling, unlike anything from home. It's hard to disguise her grimace, but for the little Prismal's sake, she smiles anyways.
"Wow. Are these your favorite?" she asks with a sincere tone---but the boy can't answer. Instead, they're interrupted by the boy's....parents, it seems like, having been looking for him everywhere.
The loud shouting startles them both, the fruit falling from Elsa's hand back into the yard. Oops. Both red handed.
What're you doing to my son!? What---what happened in this yard!? he shouts, red in the face. Looking down from the man's face, the toddler is gone---scampered behind his mother and holding onto her leg. Clearly this wasn't his first time getting the riot act from his father.
Thanks, little guy. she thinks inwardly. I'd be scared, too.
"I'm sorry, it seems there's been a misunderstanding---" she starts, but is immediately interrupting by another round of shrieking from this grown man.
Now, having never really been in this situation before as a child, Elsa had definitely been on this side of it as an adult before. Debating trade and economy, policy with men older than most anyone she knew save for her advisors, yelling and screaming that their interests were more important than her kingdom's.
Elsa attempts to steel herself, and her expression. Wrong place and wrong time, she thinks. What if this were her and Anna? Would she rat out Anna or would she take the brunt of it as the older sister? She knew better right.
"You're absolutely right," she starts, her tone authoritative and stern in it's agreement.
"And I'll be happy to help clean up, and pay for what you've lost." Diplomatic, stern, complacent.
Though, she wasn't sure where she'd get the Chroma for all of this---much less all the stains these things were bound to leave on her hands as she cleaned. Oh well---important things first. Help pick up this mess----that she didn't make.
